I’m so excited to have found Dee, Michael and Plan-D, I figured it would be nice to introduce myself here & connect! Perhaps, and I would personally like that, you would like to introduce yourself too?
I stumbled upon the Processed Free Living concept through the iTunes podcasts by the way, and found my way here, becoming more enthusiastic with each step.
My name is Diana, I am Dutch but moved to New York about two years ago. Love it.
I have ALWAYS been overweight / obese. The running joke in my family is that I was delivered two weeks early because I was getting too big. What a start. My absolute peak (or absolute low would be more accurate) was when I was about twelve and weighed about 125 kilos or 275 lbs.
Although I am not blaming anyone (what’s the point), I should tell you that my parents did not (and do not) care one bit about nutrition. They eat merely to survive, not to nurture. Both have lived through the second WW and the “hunger winter”, and that is how many of their generation were brought up in The Netherlands.
Neither of them eat fresh fruits and/or vegetables and although they are both very slim, I can see many other health problems (e.g. fatigue, insomnia, dizziness) could be resolved if they would take an interest in (healthy) food and consider that their issues may have to do with malnutrition and dehydration.
As for my obesity problem: Yes, all my life I have tried every diet in the book, like most people have. I have had thinner periods but oh , how easily the pounds find their way back to you and with a vengeance too!
Along the way I have found pieces of the puzzle; I have known, or felt rather, that some things were good and true and logical, but I really feel that Dee is the one who has put all those pieces together for me. To understand why you should eat healthy makes it so easy to eat healthy, regardless of whether you want to loose weight.
How many of us thought we were eating healthy but were unaware of the hidden MSG or the long term effects of MGO? Or all these little tidbits of information that are so incredibly useful and interesting and makes you give dirty looks to certain foods.
I am so fascinated I would just love to go and study Organic Chemistry now!
Thank you Dee, for putting Organic Chemistry & Nutrition together!
Fellow Plan-Dee-doers, thanks for reading and hope to talk to you on this message board.
