I am now in my 3rd week of going completely processed free.  My journey began with a google search and processed free living piqued my interest.  I have been struggling with losing 30 pounds that I gained after a craniotomy in August 2008.  And my doctor diagnosed me with high blood pressure the beginning of May... I did not want to take medication if there is any alternative... thus the search began.

First thing that happened after I ordered and read Dee's book was that I realized although I am a trusting person, I can not trust anyone with my food choices least of all our government.  I became MAD when I realized all the additives and decisions made based on lobbyist or $$$'s rather than the top priority of our health!

Second thing happened is I spent $300 the first trip to our local health food store revamping my staple items.  Yes, it was costly, but now I will just be refilling items as I run out of them.  What price tag can be placed on my health?

I have used the anger to keep my focus and ensure that I don't quit.  Before Plan D, I was a coke-aholic... seriously if anyone knew me I always had one in my hand or near by.  On May 21, 2012, I gave all processed foods up cold-turkey, began drinking water and green tea w/stevia.  Was the first week hard?  Yes.  Did I feel good?  No.  But.. week 2.. oh my the difference in how I am feeling is phenominal, I kid you not.. I have more energy than I have had in a very long time.

I feel so blessed that through Dee's book my eyes have been opened and especially the ease of transforming a 54 yr old bad diet.

To anyone new that is beginning this journey as I am.. I have to say there is so much information in Dee's book that I was overwhelmed, I am still re-reading it daily, there's just that much information in it.

Dee, thank you for sharing your knowledge to teach us how to eat what our body needs to feel healthy and happy!

Btw, my bp was 127/83 this morning.... very near normal w/o meds!!!  I am convinced eating healthy, exercising, losing the extra lbs. will keep my bp under control. (of course I will continue monitoring it)

Thank you Dee for sharing!

Stacey,

Welcome to the forum! Glad to have you onboard! I am so touched and inspired by your story my friend   I am trying to get more activity going on in this board so I am happy you posted. I don't know about you but the GOOD CONDUCT of others as far as staying on track with healthful processed free eating is the thing that motivates and inspires me the most. Are you in Arizona so you cancome attend Dee's book launch at the end of the month? Oh!....almost forgot CONGRATS on your weightloss and overall better health!

P.S. ALWAYS REMEMBER the quote I have heard Dee say from time to time "NOTHING tastes as good as HEALTHY feels"

Hi Stacey,

This is Dee! Thank you so much for posting on our forum.  Your words are very inspiring and a testament to the healing power of REAL food.  Congrats for sticking through the first yucky week of what can only be described as DETOX.  By allowing your body to get rid of stored toxins, you were able to experience the benefit of how good it feels to be healthy.

As you continue your processed-free journey, keep a few things in mind:  Think of healthy eating as a process to be taken one day at a time.  You don't have to do it perfectly, you just have to be committed to sticking with it. If results are slow, or if you stray from it temporarily--just trust that you can always get right back with it.

We invite you to post here on the forum often with questions or contributions.  This is a great way to get support.  I also want to thank you for the kind words about my book.  I am so happy that it is helping you restore your health.  My vision and intention while writing it was that people would use it as a resource--something they would come back to time and time again.

Welcome to Processed-Free living.  Welcome home!

Best of Health,
Dee

Tanner, thank you.  I am going to remember that quote.   "Nothing tastes as good as healthy feels".  How true that is!  I live in Arkansas, so unfortunately I won't be able to attend Dee's book event .

Thank you both for your words of encouragement, changing the very core of your life (what you eat) has not been the easiest thing but the resources provided in Dee's book and on this site have been invaluable.  I don't feel like I'm doing this alone!
