As many books as I have purchased and read in regards to healthy living and losing weight, I truly believe I just found the one that may have changed my life! I am in my second week of Skinny Beginnings and I am truly excited about the changes I have to look forward to! I have high blood pressure and believe I may have the onset of rheumatoid arthritis (difficulty making a fist upon rising). When I read the host of issues and degenerative diseases caused by processed foods I was astounded. I was contemplating a visit to a specialist and decided to give this a try before a doctor tries to prescribe more medication..... especially considering that I'd like to get of my BP meds!! I am about 40 lbs overweight, and while I didn't see the scale change after a week, I am hopeful that I will see reults soon and am comitted to making a lifestyle change that benefits my health and rewards me with a weight loss bonus! My question would be if it's normal not to see weight loss after the 1st week with such a dramatic change in food choices along with all the other supplementation like Code vitamins, ACV, Dandelion, Milk Thistle etc? (While I say dramatic, I haven't drank sodas or fruit juices in years, I grill everything, do not eat fried foods, and drink at least 2 liters of water daily, and have limited starchy carbs for several years now). My other question would deal with chalelnging work environment and traveling about 65% of the time! I have searched for a Whole Foods market in the cities I am traveling to, and I plan to visit at the beginning of any travel week and stay at a hotel with a refrigerator..... but I generally do dinner with co-workers. I feel I make good decisions but after evrything I've read in Dee's book makes me feel like few decisions even at high qualty restaurants are not as good as I would like to believe (hence 40 lbs to lose)?? Do I have a chance at being succesful with this lifestyle and my constant travel? Any encouraging words would be very much appreciated! I absolutely love the book and when I put '50 Shades of Gray' down to read Dee's book.... that speaks volumes on the profound effect Dee's book has had on my approach to better living! Either that or salmon just got really sexy! Regards, Frances __________________ Frances

Welcome to the forum! I have been following Dee's plan for over six years now and I love it! I too had the weight issue though, where I did not see a reduction in the beginning like I was expecting after making such a dramatic change from previous eating habits, but I discovered that consistant excercise was the key. If I don't combine the eating with daily, regular fitness routines then I seem to hit a plateau. At least for me that was helpful, but everyone's body is different. Just wanted to reassure you and give you encouragement on your journey. Sincerely, Janice P.

Thanks so much for your encouraging words! Like you, anytime I attempt to lose weight, it requires pretty intense exercise! That's one of the toughest parts about traveling but I must stay focused! I look forward to a very healthy (and skinny)future! Sincerely, Frances __________________ Frances

Congratulations on your new life style . I am somewhat new too! About 3 months now and I have lost 20 lbs and I am off high blood pressue meds. I have been doing 5 days a week yoga and just started hot yoga! Traveling can make it harder because I have found eating out can be a challenge, but if you bring healthy snacks with you it can help. Keep working at it ! It takes time for your mind and body to adjust to the new you. Be patient! It is well worth it. Best Wishes
