I've just finished reading Plan D and I am so excited to be one day closer to a healthier life.  I have some allergies that are going to require me to tweak a few things -- no nuts and no seafood, but there is plenty that I can still work in.  I have fibromyalgia, arthritis, and pre diabetes.  Basically I think after reading this book that I have spent a lot of years poisoning myself.  I am definitely 100% a food addict -- and I always use it to soothe myself.  I even catch myself eating without knowing why I am.  I have a long way to go, but I like the fact that this is a journey to a better life and not just a "try me and revert back when you've lost the weight" kind of plan

There are some organic foods available in my area and I've been slowly taking advantage of this more and more as my budget allows. However, I haven't had any luck buying free range meats -- so I am making do with the best I can find.  (I'm sad to say I've been mixing them with the other processed junk I've been bringing home.)  I have also been grinding my own grains for breads -- now I need to learn how to make sprouted grain breads.  I love to bake so I'm looking forward to learning.   The concept of food combining is not one I'm familiar with and that will take me some time to get used to.   

My children are not in love with the idea of giving up sugar and flour, but they eat veggies, whole grains and things of the sort reasonably well.  My husband will eat pretty much anything I cook.  

I currently can only walk about 17 minutes at a time, but I am hoping to build that up slowly.  

I'd love to see some ideas of what kind of meals you all fix for your families.  Tonight we're having the roasted  herb chicken (no lemons on hand), turnips, carrots, onions, and string beans.  Not sure how that all balances out because I don't know if I need to count root veggies as vegetables or as starches.  Anyway, I know it has to be better for me than the fast food I ate last night.

Hi Kskttn!

This is Dee.  Welcome to the message board forum!  I am so glad you found us and that you are taking a healthy positive approach to this lifestyle change.  It is a "process" and you just take it one day at a time, doing the best that you can with the resources that you have.  Your greatest asset will be your own willingness to make the changes--that is the most important thing that will bring you long term progress.

We have many people who make posts here on the forum with things like recipes, ideas, and especially questions to me.  I encourage you to spend some time reading through some of the posts, and you can even search on terms, like "sprouted bread" and see what other people have asked and written about it.  If you like to bake, there is a recipe for making your own sprouted grain bread here on the forum.  You can search for it under the "tasty recipes" forum. There is also another place on this site where you can find recipes---Click on "Community" and then click on "Recipes."  You can get some great ideas for meals from the recipes.
